James Gouras

James S. Gouras, Born on March 28, 1927. James was raised in Smithtown, and live his life of 96 years, until his passing on November 6, 2023. Beloved husband of the late Estelle. Loving father of Tina (Greg) Babigian & Diana (Greg) Torigian. Adored grandfather of Stephanie (Anthony), Nicholas & Christopher (Rebecca). James was a World War II veteran, proud member of the American Legion, Veterans of Foreign War, The Masons and AHEPA, a Greek organizaton. Upon his return from Japan he worked at his fathers fur store, SL Gouras Furs on Main St Smithtown. He later owned and operated the store with his loving wife, Estelle.
He was a loving and devoted son, husband, father, uncle, Papou (grandfather) and soon to be great Papou.
He enjoyed reading, traveling, spending time with family and telling the history of Smithtown and Long island.
He will be remembered by all that knew him as a witty, caring, loving, respectful, gentle, kind man. He was adored and loved by all
