Dolores Andersen

dolores andersen
Born January 6, 1922 in Brooklyn, NY, Dolores Andersen was a proud second-generation Italian American. Dolores’ biological mother died two weeks after her birth, leaving her and her twin sister, Maddie, to be raised by their Aunt Virginia (their mother's sister) until age 3. Dolores’ father, William, remarried Florence, blessing Dolores with a fantastic mother and soon blessing her again with her brother, Bill. Dolores was raised in Brooklyn and worked in Manhattan at her parents' grocery store and restaurant. She was a graduate of New Utrecht High School and went on to develop a passion for pantomime and entertaining. She had a deep love for people and having fun. Her favorite moments in life were when she could gather with friends and family, sharing laughs, wine and home cooked meals. She met the love of her life, Eddie, and together they were married and moved to the Town of Freeport, where the two of them were inseparable from Maddie and Maddie’s husband, Stanley. While living in Freeport she was heavily involved with the Sons of Italy and founded the Tip Top Tappers for Charity. Life grew better and stronger, with many nieces and nephews, great grandnieces and grandnephews and great-great grandnieces and grandnephews. She was very proud and loved them all. She was a wonderful, loving person who enjoyed 102 years of a life full of family, friends and good health. She was sharp and fun, having her glass of white wine with lunch, until the very end. Dolores was very loved and will be missed by all.

  1. I am blessed to have known Dolores for almost sixty (60) years. Initially meeting her at Oceanside roller skating program where her twin sister Maddy and brother in-law Stanley Brekne ran the program. Dolores was an active outgoing lady with the ability to make you smile and entertaining you at a moments notice. She enjoyed life to the fullest and sharp as a tack in all aspects. She was extremely loving, giving and kind. She will be missed by all. Until we meet again my friend. Bobby
